I believe the Facebook app is the best for getting news breaking stories out, especially for ones that’re on-going, and have a variety of angles. In the Honolulu Star-Advertiser article that stated, “United mistakenly flies Kansas-bound dog to Japan”, Facebook also consistently recorded how many people were “talking about it” and provided a link to the full article, along with a previous one about United and another unfortunate dog incident.
In addition to the spare writing, the story was also quite witty and easily shared online. Facebook, known for “allowing users to engage publicly (via postings on walls) or privately (via messaging with readers on a story), is the perfect venue for this.
Personally, whenever I want to share something quickly, whether it’s about a LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) symposium I’m attending or a new thrift store haul I’ve just scored, I’ve discovered it’s the most effective way to share with my friends, family, contacts and the public.
